What we do:

01

Cleanings

Hygiene, Dental Prophylaxis, Twice-A-Year-Torture-Session or whatever you would like to call it. As a patient, you should be seen regularly by one of our highly competent hygienists, who will comfortably clean the plaque and tartar from your teeth. The hygienists clean in places where you can't reach with your brush and floss, and these areas can be pretty tender, especially if the last time that area was cleaned was the last time you saw a hygienist, their eyes are trained to see disease entities that you might not see. Suggestions for improved brushing and flossing home care techniques will be made, so that those areas where you are missing will become healthier. So you see, it's not "just a cleaning" as is the classic line when patients call to cancel their appointment. Cancel enough "just a cleaning" appointments, and you may be referred to a gum specialist.

02

Children's dentistry

We are very good with kids. Your child's first visit may be nothing more than a ride in the dental chair. Not exactly an "E-ticket ride" at Disney, but it is a gentle introduction to the wonderful world of dentistry. If your child is ready, we can do that initial checkup without any mental trauma.
If the child comes in full of horror stories, the child's life at the dentist has been made unnecessarily difficult. If the child is not ready the first visit, come on back in three months. We don't force the child to do anything for which the child is not ready. If there is already a cavity that needs treatment and the child is not ready for the general dentist, then we can refer to a child specialist.

03

Special needs dentistry

People of all ages may have special conditions such as stroke, pacemaker implant, defibrillator, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, mental retardation, down syndrome, genetic disorders, Alzheimer’s disease or arthritis. Each of these people has the same basic dental needs we all do: daily brushing and flossing and regular dental visits. It's our office's tradition to provide appropriate treatment to meet the oral health care for them.

04

Fillings, Caps, Bridges, Dentures, Implants

Fillings:

Also known as restorations: Bonding fillings, Tooth Colored fillings, Silver Colored fillings.

Caps, and Bridges:

Also known as Protetics: Porcelain work! Once there is insufficient tooth structure to hold that great big whopper of a filling, a porcelain crown is recommended. Crowns are also known as caps. A bridge is just a series of crowns stuck together. A porcelain laminate is a fingernail thickness of porcelain applied to the smile areas of teeth, usually just for cosmetics

Removable Teeth:

Partial Dentures, Complete Dentures, and Implants.

05

Root Canal Therapy

Also known as "Endodontics", or "I would rather have a baby" (and that's the guys talking). Thank you, Hollywood, for taking a routine dental procedure and blowing it out of proportion. Thanks to every comedian for making root canal therapy the butt of countless jokes. Thanks to every "friend who knew someone whose uncle had a co-worker whose wife's niece had a horrible experience with a root canal." You all make our patient's life very difficult! An inflamed nerve can be very difficult to treat to begin with, and more so if the unfortunate patient is a mental wreck, but there are ways around the stereotype. Teeth can be saved with proper root canal therapy, without all the histrionics associated with Hollywood, the comedy circuit, or anything else. In our office, we have had more patients fall asleep during root canal therapy than any other procedure. This is meant literally: snoring, snoozing, sleep during root canal therapy. This is not every patient, and some patients have inflamed nerves that are very difficult to treat. If the patient has any discomfort, more anesthetic is administered. There are some roots that are too curved, or the nerve is just too "hot" to treat by a general dentist, and that's why specialists were invented.

06

Extractions

Also known as Exodontias, or just plain "Yank It, Doc"
Any dentist worth a darn can pull a tooth, and our office has a great reputation for getting this procedure done comfortably. However, there is no dentist who can give you a better item in your mouth than your own natural healthy root. You should really try to keep your own roots. And while our office has a great reputation for performing a comfortable extraction, there are some times when an Oral Surgeon is necessary.
